Caracas, Dec 9 (Prensa Latina) The Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV in Spanish) described today the victory of the Socialist Party and allied forces in SundayâÖs municipal elections as an event of great significance.
Following a meeting of the PCV Political Bureau to assess the results, the party’s general secretary, Oscar Figuera, said that all revolutionary organizations had been strengthened, and that there was unequivocal support for President Nicolas Maduro.
Referring to Miranda state Governor Henrique Capriles without mentioning his name, Figuera said the elections represented a fourth defeat for the man who aspires to being the leader of the right-wing forces.
Figuera added that the Communist Party heeded MaduroâÖs call for strengthening the unity in diversity of all revolutionary forces and for strengthening people’s power with all citizens.
In his statements to the press, Figuera said that the Plan de la Patria program, a government program for the 2013-2019 period that became law, is an essential guideline for the PCV’s work, along with the party program and the monitoring of local experiences.
The PCV won nine municipal governments (1.6 percent), two of them with their own candidates and the rest in coalition with other forces.
