Christine Lindey is an art historian of the modern period with a particular interest in Soviet and socialist art. She has taught at the University of the Arts and Birkbeck College. Her book Art in the Cold War from Vladivostok to Kalamazoo (1990) pioneered the comparative study of Soviet and Western art. Her SCRSS lecture will explore representations of women on both sides of the iron curtain as exemplars of Cold War cultural polarisation.

The SCRSS library has probably the most comprehensive collection of books about Soviet art in Britain. Visit http://www.scrss.org.uk
