This years Connolly Festival kicks of this coming Tuesday 7th May with a new development in the festival programme.   The first event is taking place in Bohemians Football Club, members bar.   For those who may not know Bohemians Football Club, is headquartered in Phibsborough, Dublin 7. The theme of the evenings discussion is “The rise of the right: Workers’ struggle against racism and fascism in the 21st century” with guest speakers: Bulelani Mfaco (direct-provision activist), Rafaela Ferracuti (Brazilian Left Front), Manoj Mannath (Kranthi: Indian workers’ cultural and politi­cal organisation.)  The event will start at 19-00hrs.

There are a wide range of programme events over the course of the week,  most will take place in The New Theatre, 43 East Essex Street, Temple Bar, Dublin, D02 XH96.  Please see attached a copy of the Festival programme.

One other event from the festival programme that I would like to draw your attention to is this years “James Connolly Memorial Lecture” Saturday 11th May at 2-30pm in The New Theatre.  This years lecture will be delivered by Speaker: Prof. Kathleen Lynch (School of Social Justice, UCD) and the theme of he talk will be “The struggle for equality: Can a capitalist system ever provide true equality? –
